POSITION SUMMARY:
Adventure Specialty Counselor
This position will be primarily responsible for Adventure Camps in the AM and ropes activities after lunch. This position will live in-cabin and is required to have a bus certification as well as all ropes certifications. This position will require a lot of planning, organizing and executing field trips at a high standard.Climbing Specialty Counselor
This position will be primarily responsible for Climbing Camps in the AM and ropes activities after lunch. This position will live in-cabin and is required to have a bus certification as well as all ropes certifications. This position will require someone who is safety conscious, responsible and one who has great attention to detail.
This position will be primarily responsible for Horse Camps in the AM and Arts and Crafts + Battle Challenge in the afternoon. This position will live in-cabin and is required to have a bus certification. This position is a great fit for somebody who has high organizational skills, experience with horses and can be highly energetic.
This position will be primarily responsible for Surf Camps in the AM and Sports + Battle Challenge in the afternoon. This position will live in-cabin and is required to have a bus certification. This position is a great fit for somebody who has surf experience, is comfortable being responsible for safety of kids in the water and can be highly energetic.
This position will be primarily responsible for Ike Hawaii Specialty Camps in the AM and Pool + Archery in the afternoon. This position will live in-cabin. This position is a great fit for somebody who has deep knowledge for Hawaii and it's culture. This position will be heavily involved with maintaining quality of the pool as well as all safety aspects at archery.
KNOW-HOW:
The Camp Counselor must have a thorough understanding of the YMCA’s mission and goals, and a desire to work with children between the ages of 7 and 17. Leadership skills, enthusiasm, patience, a sense of humor and self-control are all essential. Person must have the ability to provide fun and innovative programs to youth. These programs will be a combination of directed programs in the areas of arts & crafts, aquatics, sports, team building, hiking, and self-directed programs such as group games, campfires, camp out and other activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a high school graduate
- Experience working with children
- CPR/AED and First Aid required
- TB test required
- Lifeguard certified preferred
- Ability to be physically active all day
